New Year, New Opportunities

Triathlon coach Clayton Fettell discussing race strategy with one of his athletes

Take the first step!!

I often come across athletes who seem to be going through the motions in life. Although they put in a lot of effort, they don’t feel like they are achieving what they desire. When an athlete contacts me, it is usually not a spontaneous decision but a first step towards becoming a better version of themselves. This is a step they may have been trying to take for weeks, months or even years.

The first conversation can be a mix of excitement and resistance. The resistance may stem from anxiety, depression, fear, insecurity, and a deep-rooted reluctance to experience pleasure and joy. Excitement arises from the athlete taking ownership and committing to being so much more. Training is a contagious lifestyle, and I have seen athletes inspire communities. Beyond the typical goals of qualifying for Kona or winning your age group, lie the real goals that I am interested in. These include encouraging your kids, managing ill health, and self-discovery. Training becomes a lifestyle that opens doors to many personal opportunities.

Goals help you achieve your highest potential. Without goals, you may fall into a routine of mundane activities that keep you feeling safe every day. However, this familiarity can hamper growth and prevent progress.

If you are looking to take the next steptowards your goal and looking for a coach to support you, reach out and lets start the journey together.
